3D Point Cloud 2009 (Aerial LiDAR)

This three-dimensional “point cloud” representation of the City of Kingston was captured in 2008-2009 through an aerial LiDAR survey as part of the LiDAR Eastern Acquisition Project (LEAP) project in collaboration with the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry.

Due to the large size of these data, they are divided into coverage “tiles” across the city for ease of use and download. We are working to make these data available for immediate download and we expect this work to be completed in early 2019.

To download the raw point cloud data (file format .LAS) for a specific area of interest (e.g., region of the city or specific location), please send a request using the City's Contact Us form with a subject of "Open Data Request".

Someone from the Open Data Kingston team will be in touch ASAP.

UPDATE: As of January 2019, we have made available for download 9 tiles which cover the downtown core of The City of Kingston! Please check the 'Map' tab. We continue to work on sharing the remaining LiDAR data from this acquisition as well as the more recent Terrestrial LiDAR project. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have questions or feedback!
